Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and university hall. When you post a listing, we collect photos, item descriptions, and pricing. When you message another user, we store those messages to deliver them.
We do not collect payment information. All transactions are handled in person between students.
How We Use Your Information

- To facilitate messaging between buyers and sellers
- To show your profile photo and name on your listings
- To improve the app experience
Data Storage
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase, including Firestore (database) and Firebase Storage (photos). Firebase complies with GDPR and other major data protection regulations.
Profile photos and listing images are stored in Firebase Storage and accessible only through authenticated requests.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Your name, profile photo, and hall are visible to other authenticated Dormify users within your campus community. Your email address is never shared publicly.
Your Rights
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the support email below. Upon request, we will delete your profile, listings, photos, and messages within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
Dormify is intended for college students aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy occasionally. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. Last updated: March 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I post a listing?
Tap the Sell tab, add photos, fill in the details, and hit Post Listing. Your item will appear in the feed immediately.
How do I message a seller?
Tap "Message Seller" on any listing. A chat will open automatically. All transactions are completed in person.
How do I mark an item as sold?
Go to your Profile tab, find the listing, and mark it as sold. It will be removed from the public feed.
How do I delete my account?
Email us at support@dormify.app with your registered email and we'll delete your account within 30 days.
Is Dormify available at other schools?
Not yet — we're starting at Lewis & Clark College and expanding soon. Email us if you'd like to bring Dormify to your campus.
How do I report a listing or user?
Email us at support@dormify.app with details and we'll investigate promptly.
